High alpine lakes, rugged mountain tops, and lush forests characterize this wilderness area located in southern Montana near Yellowstone National Park. The wilderness is named for its two mountain ranges, containing some of the most beautiful granite plateaus and highest mountain peaks in Montana. Covering over 900,000 acres of pristine alpine territory, this wilderness is home to many wildlife, including grizzly bears, elk, moose and bison. Absaroka Beartooth offers fantastic fishing, hiking, backpacking, horse packing, and camping. Areas of interest are Beartooth Pass, Granite Peak, Grasshopper Glacier, Pilot Peak and Paradise Valley
