Gearhart Mountain Wilderness lies at 8,354 feet elevation and is known for the geological features formed over time from a large shield volcano. Massive porphyritic lava flows created The Dome and the Palisades. Glacial fields carved U-shaped valleys when volcanic activity slowed forming Gearhart and Dairy Creek. Views from Gearhart Mountain span from Mount Lassen in Northern California, all the way to Three Sisters Mountains in central Oregon. Located on the Fremont National Forest.
