This wilderness area is not one large area, rather four units, located in the Madison Range of Montana. Units include, Bear Trap Canyon, Monument Mountain, Spanish Peaks and the largest unit, the Taylor-Hilgard. Steep and rugged glaciated peaks run over 10,000 feet in elevation with some reaching over 11,000 feet. Gemlike lakes and sub alpine meadows provide home to an abundant amount of wildlife, including large populations of Grizzly Bears.
