The Emigrant Wilderness encompasses 112,277 acres of spectular high Sierra Nevada alpine and sub-alpine terrain. Located in the Stanislaus National Forest the Emigrant is one of a string of Wilderness areas that truly embody the heart of the "Range of Light". Broad expanses of glaciated granite, towering lava-capped peaks as well as numerous alpine lakes. Elevations range from 6,000 to 12,000 feet.
