The Angeles National Forest is one of the most unique
National Forests. This rich, diverse resource, which
covers 1,000 square miles, is the backyard playground
of Los Angeles, attracting more than 32 million visitors
each year. Its proximity to the city, and its
relationship with the city's inhabitants, make the Angeles
a truly urban National Forest!
In contrast to the nearby city, these roads will take you to natural
environments of oak thickets, chaparral, high desert landscapes, pine
forests, rivers, lakes, and streams. You'll enjoy spectacular
scenery, developed campgrounds and pinic areas, swimming, fishing, or
the solitude of quiet wilderness areas. Winding throughout the forest
are trails for hikers, equestrians, mountain bikers and off-highway
vehicle enthusiasts.
