Although small compared to the other Southern National
Forests, the Tuskegee National Forest is BIG on fun! It is
located in Macon County, Ala., approximately 45 miles east
of Montgomery and 40 miles west of Columbus, GA. Interstate
Highway 85, U.S. Highway 80 and 29 and numerous other roads
provide excellent public access into the forest.
There is a little something for everyone on the Tuskegee.
For picnickers, there is Taska Rcreation Area. Firearms
enthusiasts flock to Uchee Firing Range; hikers travel along
the scenic Bartram National Recreation Trail and "birders"
as well as photography buffs find plenty of wildlife at
Tsinia Wildlife Viewing Area.
